They get 4 cups a day and they weigh about 20lbs. We also have 2 adult dogs that they are below for sure. I've seen them try to chase chickens before but they stop when I scold them. They were in the fenced in yard near the house around 11am so I doubt another predator. I could try uping their food.

We have 2 7month old bordercollie/lab mixes that have been around our livestock since we have got them and had no problem. Wednesday they defeathered a turkey that has been known to attack and was heading to the block anyway so I talked myself into thinking the tom attacked them first. today they went after a young goat that I almost didn't get to in time. I talked to our large animal vet and he said some dogs have that killer instinct and as hard as it is that he recommends putting them down. we have 2 children and one on the way so their safety is important. I hate the idea of putting them down but this behavior can't be allowed. does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions?

Is it to late to tap? I live in south east pa and this would be my first try. we had warm days here and there but it seems like this coming week is going to be a steady 40ish day 30ish night.

I've been playing with a idea about a tromp fed vortex tube that the cold air potion would be refrigerator and the hot air to a hot water heater. My only hang up is my stream is small.

Thanks for responding. the reason I was thinking of the pallet wall was that I would like to plant osage orange in the top which would need a sizeable base.

Our back property is wooded and extremely rocky uneven ground. We have been trying to run fence using trees as posts but that hasn't worked well. I was thinking about layering pallets with the planks down and filling them with dirt one on top of the other maybe 3 feet high then attaching boards every 10 feet as fence posts. I would then plant a dense hedge row in the pallet hugelkultur so as the outside of the pallets decay the hedge row would be up to snuff. Does this sound doable or is there other aspects I can't see?

My wife and I were in a antique store last night and eyeing up a potbelly stove she asked if i could make that into a rocket stove(pocket rocket) and I actually love the idea. I was thinking maybe a parlor stove because they are larger but is there any reason this wouldn't work instead of a 55 gallon drum? Would the heat be to much for the cast iron?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to make a stock tank out of a thermal mass of a RMH for maybe inside a barn. Is there inherent problems with this idea? I'm sure I would need a sealent or a liner for the cob but anything else?
