that's exactly it!! why aren't there more companies like exos? i'm wondering if they are succeeding in getting the word out. i never even heard of them. and Ben, you are of course right about the designer must know a lot about the property and its location. but the owner should know. if you got somebody living there 5 to 10 years who has been observant then he can impart that knowledge to the designer and they can both design the property. of course there will be tweaking as the years go on but at least the initial set up is done. we def need more of these turnkey companies around. just imagine if they can provide a service like this to small poor farmers in developing countries and found a way to profit for it. it would be win/win!!

Anyone know if there's such a thing as a Permaculture Development Company? someone who can come in, survey your land,
and then go ahead develop it as a permaculture farm. you give your parameters, and your money and they do the rest. is
there such a thing. and if there isn't, why not?

how bout a shotgun with beanbag like the riot control police use? or pepper spray and dog combo, and of course some sort of ingenious pepper spray traps in your windows and doors if someone breaks in, or motion detectors and spray traps? having a wwoofer live close to your house? putting bars on windows that can be opened only from inside when in emergencies?

i posted this in the homestead section but no replies so am hoping i get some here. thanks:

hello, newbie forumer here.

i just bought a 5 acre property that will be turned to a permie demo farm in the philippines. my neighbors on two sides (plus one across the road) are monoculture banana farmers who use chemical farming techniques. i need advice on how to lessen toxic contamination on my side, and prevent the inevitable pest plagues from coming over to my side of the land. is this a big problem? i hope i can still make a go of being a permie there. i didn't consider my neighbor's properties before i bought. otherwise i just blew a huge part of my seedcorn. the one above me particularly bothers me as they are upslope of us and we're in a mountain slope. any water i get from runoff most likely will be contaminated. so retention ponds might be out of the question.

my ideas (don't know if advisable): build high hugelkultur beds as barriers, plant lots of high shrubbery and leafy trees to block off chemical sprays, put lots of chemical eating mycela/mushrooms in strategic places, etc.

thanks for any advice or personal experiences!!
