Based in Bethlehem in the West Bank, Bustan Qaraaqa is a permaculture project promoting sustainable, creative solutions to problems of environmental degradation and food and water insecurity facing the local community. We experiment on our farm to develop appropriate technologies and practices to promote and implement with our community partners to help them to keep their homes, access natural resources and protect their community and the quality of the local environment.

We are currently having projects in the Jordan Valley and Beit Qad working with locals on different permaculture farms included our own home and permaculture farm in Beit Sahour.
In March 2014 we are arranging our second PDc course and more information about the course, volunteer and farm can be read at our website and facebook page.

Please visit click here http://bustanqaraaqa.weebly.com/permaculture-design-certificate-feb-march-2013.html
for more information, updates and booking.

In addition to the standard PDC curriculum you will benefit from our five years' experience of implementing permaculture designs in Palestine, that empower families and communities to access vital natural resources in a hot dry climate and in the face of military obstruction and persecution.

Over three weeks we will explore the permaculture design methodology and its application and potential to provide effective immediate relief and longterm social and environmental regeneration. Living on the Bustan Qaraaqa Permaculture Farm, Bethlehem, students will gain hands-on experience of system design, implementation and maintenance. Students will also have the opportunity to see permaculture in action throughout the diverse communities of the West Bank, together with local farmers, in the refugee camps and amongst the Bedouin tribes, as Bustan Qaraaqa promotes and implements permaculture solutions for access to water, food production, energy generation as well as strengthening communities and protecting the environment.
