Hi all! I'm part of small group of 4 on the Cambridge/Somerville border (Porter Square) just starting a tiny permaculture setup in and around our house this spring (maybe 400 sq ft of plants total, thinking about how to take over the steeply pitched roof if we can!). We're looking for one more housemate right now, and we're looking to expand our community to 10-12 people in August and move somewhere nearby with at least a modest amount of yard space. The only real restriction is that it be w/in a 20-30 minute commute (bike or public transit) of Harvard's campus. With that large a group we could afford a large place. Renting is probably most realistic this close to August, but long term we'd love to buy (again, that many people means lots of buying power).
If anyone is interested in joining us now, or in August, or just wants to hang out, see our garden, or would like our free labor to help out in your garden (we always like to meet new people and learn from their experience!) please email or call me! I'm excited to find this forum and see a few likeminded people in the area. I'll probably be in touch with some of you locals who have posted already. I know some people in the NYC/Brooklyn/Queens permaculture scene which is really thriving, it'd be great if we can build similar energy here near Boston/Cambridge.
Also, we're going to start some guerilla gardening around Somerville in late April! If anyone would like to join please email me, the bigger a pool of seeds, plants, and labor we have the more we can do. We've ID'ed several locations just begging for some vegetables.
And lastly, I'm organizing a field trip out to the Sirius Community in May or June (first weekend of the month when they have a work exchange). If anyone would like to join that just let me know! here's a link:
