Howdy!

My name is Alison and I am a recent graduate of Texas A&M University! This past year I discovered a passion for gardening and for permaculture! I have two small patio container gardens with 17 different types of edibles and I hope to grow more in the future!

How's the hunt going?

So far I haven't been able to find anything. There is one local garden/animal feed supply shop that is hiring for a sales associate, but they seem to be more focused on organic animal and pet feed. I looked online to various organizations, farms, CSAs, and haven't had any luck. I finally convinced my parents to let me use there unused barren back yard to build some raised beds and I'm starting work on planning that now. What I really want to do rather than sales is to actually use my hands and plant seeds, transfer seedlings, and learn practical skills such as grafting.

I am definitely looking forward to taking the Master Gardener course next spring to become a Master Gardener. After that, I should be able to find many projects to have fun with : ]

You may want to try soaking your seeds for 12-24 hours before sowing them. I soaked mine and had all germinate and grow successfully.

Good luck!

I am looking for some fun opportunities to gain experience in gardening and permaculture in the north Texas area, especially around Denton or Grapevine, tx.

I am a recent graduate of Texas A&M and currently only work part time in retail until I begin my masters in education this summer. I have an extensive container garden, but would love to learn and be able to garden more.

If anyone knows of any resources to find positions that are part-time paid or unpaid, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Thanks,
Alison
