the diatomaceous earth doesnt do shit for fleas my dogs and cats are itching more and they are multiplying in my carpet my feet turn black when i go into my room

i bought this stuff yesturday from a feed store heard about it online i have a major flea infestation and it seems as though it has gotten worse it said it cuts their exoskeloton when crawling through it but fleas jump they dont crawl until they land on you or your pet so i see it as false advertiseing.... any suggestions i cant afford alot of bullshit sprays and bombs been there done that nothing kills the louisiana bugs
