Hi guys!
Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been near the interwebs. Thank you Jay C. White Cloud.
We have decided to wait til next spring to start building our home. We dont want to do it in a hurry and miss the opportunity to make it a piece of art.

Wren Haffner, we will be contacting you in early spring next year. Thank you! We would love to have experienced hands working with us.
We have recently found an opportunity with 99 year lease land. It is in a land trust of 400 acres and has never been sprayed with any chemicals. I noticed in another post you mentioned not being interested in leasing.. but this one is a unique opportunity. The lease is based off of income and very cheap. Plus your money will go to support them in buying more land to preserve. You get 10 acres but have access to the remaining hundreds of acres. My sister and I are going to go see it in the next week. If you are interested, I will happily give you the contact info.

Alright. Superior is a bad word, just awful. I'm swearing it off right now.

I was referring to the great possibility that hemp;lime plaster may very well be a better option for me right now.

Hemp:lime plaster over other lime plasters offers increased strength, durability, faster curing time, faster and easier to work with because it goes on thicker and has minimal shrinkage.

I found this link rather encouraging. It covers the many benefits of hemp:lime plaster and mentions it's use on straw bales.

It is from a UK company but I have found some local-ish sources for USA grown hurds at what seems to be reasonable prices.
Completely local and freee clay based plaster would be great hefty thermal mass, if only I could figure out a way to process it in a timely fashion. I'm excited about this other option and so grateful to have ye permies to discuss it with before any decisions or purchases are made.

Thanks for advice!

Oh wise balers, I've got a baby coming soon and need to build a cozy home before winter. Still in the planning stages and it's almost August! Ah!
No time to do a clay based plaster. No interest in cement.
I am interested in doing a hemp/lime plaster. It seems to be the superior choice but of course, I have no experience. So dear Permies, Please bestow your wisdom.

Would I be ordering Hemp Hurds or fiber??
I can test ratios of hemp to lime but advice is appreciated!
Would this be a suitable plaster for inner and outer walls??

I've been able to find lots of impressive information about Hempcrete but not much about hemp plaster on bales. Anyone doing this? Any help for a total newb is appreciated!

Hello!
My sister and I are in the planning phase of building a very small strawbale home.
We are seeking out help, advice, etc.
We would be happy to pay for some assistance from anyone with experience.
We are hoping to start the project very soon. It currently looks like we will be buying land in the Mansfield area.

Thank you!

Hello Judith,
Wow your home is beautiful! Is it still for sale? My sister and I have $25,000 cash. I understand that earlier in the thread you mentioned wanting at least half the final price in order to consider owner financing. But I thought I could let you know we would be happy to pay a higher interest rate in order to make up for our smaller down payment.
If there is another family out there with just a bit of cash like my sister and I. We are open to partnering with other open minded permies
Another option, have you considered subdividing the land in half? 20 acres with structures would make it more affordable for some people.
Thank you!
Whoever ends up on this land will be truly blessed.
I also would greatly appreciate this information!

Work trading opportunities on the hamakua coast??
Opportunities to lease land in the same area??

Where are you at Leo?

Hi! Hello!

There is certainly loads of potential here in AR.
The topography seems to have kept a lot of destruction at bay.
I'm just passing through but I have yet to see a single gmo field.
Super Bliss!

I must agree with the suggestion for micoremediation.

Mycelium running by Paul stamets will be of great assistance!
I'm reading it now and feeling the need to apply this bit of pressure to my peers.. READ IT!
He gives extensive charts pairing heavy metals/toxins and the wondrous species that devour them.

Every page turned, I'm delighted and end up spewing summaries unto anyone around. )

What other sources for information have yeens found to be utterly revolutionary in the quest to create a new world by healing the old??
Has anyone read Liiving Machines? Estuaries for processing toxic waste..
I'm thinking even if you inoculate with hyperaccumulators you have to then put the fruiting bodies somewhere..

Ah I'm new to posting.. I should probably stop and seek out a remediation forum.

One planet. All the best to you dear Tirzah. Let us know how your search goes!

Ps Stockton lake area is lovely, fairly pure, and cheap.
Psps..if you feel like abandoning this region. The big island is full of like minded folks, and reasonably priced land that craves remediation.
Ohhhh and Hawaii is working to not only legalize but grow hemp on a major scale! Major win since it absorbs radiation!

Hi Permies! This patch of infinte potential is located 10 miles from the huge/beautiful/pure Stockton lake, 8 miles from the small town of Morrisville, 15 to Willard, 19 miles Bolivar, and 30 miles Springfield.

My farm has 20 acres of mostly pasture with 2 large ponds (in front and back, neither have ever gone dry) 2 large barns, clean deep well water, (no gmo fields or other risk to water quality for miles) a large green house, chicken coop, an orchard with apples, plums, peaches, pears, and cherries, tool shed, large playhouse with swing set, large pool with deck and bamboo well established, hot tub (needs repair), cement half basketball court, grapes growing along the house, young willow tree, over 50 mature walnut trees (produces over several hundreds of pounds of walnuts per year),

House is very large with almost 3,000 sqft, two stories high,
Wrap around front porch, large front room with fireplace, kitchen, pantry, and dinning rooms with open floor plan and second wood stove, and library. Also downstairs you'll find the large garage, mud room, laundry room, one smaller bedroom and the master bedroom with back porch walk out access, big bay window, huge closet and full private bathroom.
Upstairs you'll find four more bedrooms.
This unique property is a must see!

We have ponds in front and back, the land is broken up into 3 paddox. Everything you need to have livestock and to grow all your own food is here.
The neighboring land surrounding our property is wooded on three sides.
The soil is CLEAN. We have NEVER used chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides.
This farm has a great potential to grow into a very productive organic farm.
There is a high demand for organic food in this area.

This farm is ideal for large or growing families, farmer with rooms for work traders, or someone wanting to open a bed and breakfast. The possibilities are endless. Only one neighbor in sight of property. All neighbors are kind, quiet, and helpful. You dont have to worry about any meth labs in this area. I have felt safe the entire 20 years of owning this home. I have rented out my pasture and barns in the past. I am on a list to allow a local bee keeper manage hives on property for exchange of tons of free raw organic honey!
Its too much for me and my 9 yr old son.
It would also be an awesome opportunity for a group of friends, a few families could live on this land quite comfortably.
There aren't building permits out here so all your wildest ideas can come to truth! I've always wanted to build an almost invisible earthbag house by the back pond..
I really hope my home goes to a permie and reaches its fullest potential.

Feel free to call, text, or email anytime

Sorry, I canNOT afford to finance for anyone. Only one exception- if you have +$125,000 for a down payment.

All the best!
