demeter biodynamic certification is extremely rigorous. there is a biodynamic farm in my area and their produce is the best I've tasted by far, and I buy and eat quite a varied lot.

Thank you Judith!

There is minimal air circulation, though enough for comfort. There is a natural breeze that goes through the house.

It is very, very humid outside.

Linseed oil can cause mold? I'm familiar with linseed oil being used to seal wood. One would think it would prevent mold.

Internet "research" bring up Tea Tree Oil as "the most effective mold killer"

If there is any truth to this, one would expect treating leather with Tea Tree Oil would prevent mold.

(To keep leather in good health, it is typically treated periodically with oils)

It would be nice to hear from anyone with more experience Linseed and Tea Tree Oil.

I will treat my leather shoes with Tea Tree Oil once I have aquired some and report in with the results.

Seeing its effects should be easy as many of our leather shoes mold every couple of days.

Here in the North American South East, humidity is very high.

In this living arrangement there is no A/C used and the windows are always open. Consequently, the humidity inside is very high.

Books are molding. Leather is molding. Home made woodware is molding!

This thread is a little about natural methods of killing mold, but more so about preventing mold, and sealing or treating things such as wood and leather, perhaps with oils, to prevent mold.

The answers searched are:

What are some natural methods of killing mold?

What are natural methods of curing/sealing/finishing wood to prevent mold? Any special oils or methods?

What are natural methods of curing/sealing/finishing leather? Any special oils?

It seems meat eating can't get more ethical than eating carrion.

If I ate flesh and blood, I would eat newly dead wild, free range hormone free roadkill.

This gentleman eats roadkill. A good video to see how easy it really is when you have the ability and honesty to butcher your own corpses instead of having a payed middle man do it for you out of your sight.

There is no real irony if the choices are considered,

because as it stands, either those bottles, wood chips and clothing are going to go to waste, along with all the materials and energy used to produce them,

or they are going to be reused and repurposed.

The choice is obvious!

As an analogy, it's like having a wasteful roommate that buys pounds and pounds of produce and doesn't eat them, and you use all that waste to make compost.

Should you feel guilty for making compost? No! Better not gone to waste.

There are still years ahead of us for our society to become sane,
but in the meantime we need to use transitional strategies, such as thrift stores, to mitigate the damage we do to ourselves.

Eventually, everything will be biodegradable and hemp while all nondegradable materials will be recycled 100%.

But as we grow to that point, the more damage mitigation the better. And if that means benefitting from the scraps of mindless consumerists, then so be it. No irony in this inevitable transition!

I use a Berkey filter with black and PF2 fluoride/arsenic filters. (the fluoride filters must be used in conjunction with black or other filters, they can't be used alone)

My family drinks water from the municipal tap filtered through the berkey with 2 black filters and 2 PF2 fluoride filters (they attach to the bottom of the black filters)

I'm very happy with the taste and smell of the water. Drinking water was a nightmare before this.

I don't know of any other options. There needs to be much more sincere work on fluoride management and a reevaluation of it's toxicity.

tl;dr: I use berkey with black and PF2 fluoride filters. It works great for me, I'm very happy with it, +1. I don't know of any other methods.
