Thank you so much, Gina! Unfortunately, we're only able to travel throughout the continental United States. But fortunately, we recently found a work-exchange opportunity only six hours away from where we used to live, and your message prompted me to come here and to announce that to everyone. Yes, we found a place in north-eastern Texas, and we just finished moving there. Thank you, everyone, for all your positive thoughts and desires in our behalf! I hope all goes well for you!

I recently found this wonderful site, and I'm overwhelmed with the amount of invaluable information! I'm very much a newbie here, so please be patient with me as I continue to learn the ropes.

My wife and I have been looking for a permaculture farm or community to join for a while now. We're hard workers, so we'd like to "work hard at work worth doing" in exchange for a place to live and where our children can grow. With the bad economy, neither one of us has been able to find steady full-time jobs, and we feel in our hearts that this route would be a better option for the Earth, anyway. We've searched through IC.org, WWOOFUSA.org, WorkAway.info and HelpX.net, all with few results to speak of. We have some experience with gardening, permaculture, and holistic medicine, though not extensive, and we're eager to learn more. This, however, is not the main problem keeping us from finding and joining a community/farm -- it's the fact that we have four young children, ages 6, 4, 3, and 1, all of them boys. We're looking for a place where we can continue to homeschool them and help teach any other children there as well, but we have yet to find a place with enough room for us.

We currently live in San Marcos, TX (part-way between Austin and San Antonio), but we've been all around the United States a lot in the last seven years, so we're willing to go just about anywhere. And the farther we get from greed and rat races, the better!

So does anyone have -- or know of someone who has -- a farm/community/internship opportunity with room for a family of six? We don't have much, but we also don't need much, except the bare necessities very young children typically need. For us, a long-term stay is ideal, but we're not exactly in a position to complain if anyone needs us to leave sooner. Any information any of you may have will be greatly appreciated!
