Can someone please explain to me just why some plastic battery boxes are in excess of $300?
Is it just because they're sold as a 'battery box' for folks using solar, and they have a couple of holes punched in them already?
What's the difference in these? Corrosion resistance?

I thought about access, myself. If I take the upper shelf out of the area, I think I'll be able to get to them fairly easily.
I just don't see another place I can put them and keep them somewhat close to the breaker panel.
A guy at NAWS suggested I keep the inverter within ten feet of the batteries, so I figured I'd just keep everything within ten feet of the main panel.

I'm thinking DIY battery box inside an RV below the sink.
Quad T-105, plywood or pine, vented to outside with a 3" or 4" pipe and perhaps a little fan.

Questions:
Any reason not to use wood?
Do the batteries need to be raised off the bottom of the box by using cleats?
Do the batteries need to not touch each other inside the box?
Anything else I'm overlooking?

Thank you

Greetings all,
Moving to five acres in the Davis Mountains, here in about two months.
Going to implement permaculture concepts to raise me up a crop of dental floss...

Were moving to our property in about a month and a half, and we're planning on purchasing a gas generator as a back up to our solar.
I used to work for a fence company and we used a Yamaha ef2400ishc. I loved it...it was quiet and lightweight, and would handle anything we threw at it.
My questions:
Is the Yamaha suited to run more delicate equipment?
Can you run computers with an inverter generator? I would assume it's not pure sine.
Any thought on propane conversion?
Has anyone had dealings with this company?

There's the old trick of having an ice chest open at night and then closing it in the morning, keep it in the shade during the day. We did this with eggs, cucumbers, squash, anything we'd get a large amount of that needed to be kept cool a few days until farmers market.

Why would a vegan need eggs?

Ok, why is the metal doomed?

I have seen straight perlite or vermiculite used as insulation, in many of the videos.
What is the advantage of using a clay slurry and perlite mix?
Thanks for the insight...
