Those threats are diffuse. Wood dust is easily avoidable, since it's usually encountered while actually _woodworking_.
Oh, wait, I think I see.... You were being funny. My mistake.

I think I would be more concerned about avoiding breathing the sawdust or any dust products from woodworking with "exotic" woods like black locust, or really any woodmeal or sawdust at all. It's a known danger, and just not worth ignoring.

Is this it? J. L. Hudson, Seedsman http://www.jlhudsonseeds.net/

This looks amazing! Thanks for the tip!

One thing I've never been able to ferret out in my reading about keeping pigeons.... If you want to free-range your birds, as with a dovecote (which is what I'm planning) how do you tame or habituate your breeders to your location, so they don't just fly away to wherever they were born, or wherever they want to go, instead of coming back to the dovecote?

I found seedlings for sale from nurseries, but it didn't occur to me to check Amazon. Thanks!

I would very much like to have some black locust seeds to plant or cuttings to propagate.
Would any of you who have black locust be willing to help me out with getting mine started?
I'm just getting started in the Permaculture world, but am willing to barter or buy, whichever.
Thanks,

Black Locust seed/slips/saplings?

Does anyone have black locust seeds that they'd be willing to share with me so I can get some going in my "orchard" area?

What's the best way to propogate black locust? I'd guess the seeds are convenient... but that's just a guess.

Top photo shows typical red and white oak leaves. Pointy leaves = red oak, rounded lobular leaves = white oak *IANAD (* I am not a dendrologist)

John Elliott wrote:.... if you want to know how to collect cypress cones this winter and start seedlings next spring, I can walk you through that exercise. Before it was settled, Florida was a huge cypress swamp, and now there is hardly any old growth cypress swamp left.

I'd be interested, whether in a separate thread or in PM.

I'm just getting started, and don't have much to offer.
Where I live I have tons of Yaupon Holly (ilex vomitoria) which is a woody shrub which contains caffeine in its leaves. If anyone is interested, let me know and we'll figure out what the best way to propagate it is. I have _tons_ of this, so if you want any let me know.
