Here is where you can find more information about what I have to offer:

here's the craigslist ad: http://swva.craigslist.org/roo/4141567720.html

if you are on facebook, the house has it's own site: "southwest virginiahouse" with many pictures there

I do want someone long-term, so I'm not sure why you say the title was misleading?
You said you only wanted to be there intermittently and I want someone to live there, not just stay there sometimes.

I've owned it for 6 years and have let people put horses on it. In the yard I have a lot of herb beds and have put in gardens. Before I owned it, the people I bought it from had horses there for 25 years. It would be good for goats, horses, chickens, etc. There is about 2+ acres of prime tillable land by the barn that could be fenced off from livestock. No cattle are allowed due to the creek running into the lake at the state park next door.

I have a farm in SW VA that is pretty much empty and ready to be loved and worked. I have no plans of residing there for 20 years. I do come through the area a handful of times a year for about a week and like to be able to work on the place when I come through. I'm looking to rent the main floor and the land to someone long-term for a very reasonable rate. I will mostly pay for the cost of projects that benefit my desire to have a sustainable farm and will pay for the cost and upkeep of the basics around the house and farm. It would be great for someone who wants a farm, but can't afford one, wants long-term benefits without large up-front costs. It has a 1900 farmhouse that I've redone on the land, outbuildings, garage, barn, sheds. The land is 5+ acres, all fenced with a barn and 3 springs that start within the fence line. It has beautiful views, waterfalls, up against a state park, nice neighbors and is only 5 miles off the interstate, but looks like it's much more remote. I'm an educational consultant who travels a lot for my work and primarily reside in VT on family land. For the right person, there is a potential of working for my business as well to subsidize housing costs/income.
