I have two 8's tall dwarf apple trees (fuji and gala). The trees are healthy and have grown about 1.5' in the year they've been in the ground but because they are only 4-5 years old they are still thin/small and only produced 5 total apples last season. Now, today in fact, I noticed a ton of sprouts/shoots/growth coming from the galas trunk/root ball. These are not weeds. I was wondering if these are individual appke trees - can I clip and replant them? Or some sort of growth that needs to be pruned so it doesn;t take nutrients from the tree. WHat shout I do? Pictures attached. Tree is 8' tall. Shoots/Growth is about 2'-3' tall.
