Moved to Sanibel Island 2 years ago from SE Idaho. So much to learn here! Slowly converting existing landscape to food forest/permaculture. Just took out all the grass in the back yard and installed figs, sapodilla, papaya, banana, cherry, jujube, jaboticaba, maypop, dragon fruit, mango, canna lily, hibiscus, katuk, mulberry. Using powder puff mimosa and pine straw as a ground cover. On my plant list is pomegranate, ginger, persimmon, pawpaw, macadamia, plantain, florida cranberry, moringa, etc... We have a brackish water lake in our back yard so I am hoping this might provide additional opportunity for some plantings. One thing I haven't gotten going yet is a compost pile. I have never been without one and am really missing it.
