I know you are burnt out at the moment but what about partnering with an event planner?

No one want to eat yucky food. I'm sure that organic food from the area can be sourced locally and prepared by a camp savvy chef with an assistant.

Flashy websites go along way.

Hi,
We bough our land and it had a sun mar toilet already in the cabin and I tell everyone I know how much I hate it.
Couple of big problems:

-you MUST purchase their product to spray in to the toilet or VERY bad things can happen.

-if someone fails to read your sings telling people to not touch anything on the toilet, simply close the lid, it will mess up the composting process. Its amazing how many people ignored the sign and turned the handle on the side of the toilet. I could tell b/c when I would go to use it the barrel would be facing the wrong direction (ie not in the "open" position to receive the waste. Think sideways barrel with a "door" cut out of it) and often "waste" would be on the part of the barrel not designed to come in contact with poop.

-To much urine in the toilet all will put things off.

this lead me to the design flaw in this toilet, when it goes bad you are emptying your toilet (if it is the self contained one) from a flimsy plastic tray not designed for anything but perfect compost.

After we had 2 guests stay with us for 5 days (grand total of people 4) our toilet malfunctioned. It began oozing brown liquid out the bottom slowly flooding our bathroom.

We now had to bail out the toilet. Grossest thing I've ever done, and I've given birth.

There must be better companies, failing that the alternative models that are NOT self contained would eliminate most of the problems.

Hello,

I have a couple of very workable acres North of Nelson BC.

There is a couple on the land already that are using a TINY portion of a garden in a mono culture fashion.

There is a separate cabin next to the lands water source, there is power to the cabin. There is also a screened in room with a hanging bed next to the stream that runs through the place. Very nice cool sleeping in the summer. Tall ceilings and lots of natural light in the cabin.

I started on the land and then my health took a curveball. I'm out of commission for 3 or 4 days at a time and I wont be on back on the land anytime soon.

I'm so sad to just see it sit and I'm hoping someone is interested in a land share share situation in exchange for being respectful, and working towards establishing premies style system on the land. I'm extremely hesitant to post this as I've recently had a very bad experience with trying to do this that ended in being physically assaulted. However not all humanity shall be judged by his standards, just understand my caution isn't personal.

I'm not interested in micromanaging the person who works the land. I only ask systems be established in a thoughtful, sustainable manner.

There are cleared are ready to go spaces right now.

I've attached a couple of pictures there is a whole lot more to the place will add more photos

Great site for land sharing. My only complaint is I'm "one of those" that doesn't use facebook.

Well I'm in Canada and I have a couple of very workable beautiful acres in the rockies that is not being used to it potential. I started working on the land slowly and my health has taken a side step. It will be more than a few years before I can be back out there and its so sad to see it just sit.
there is a livable structure that is pretty awesome a stream that runs through the place. I'm just starting to consider land share situation.

Hi

I'm in the kootenays 7a and I have an old large cherry tree that got eaten alive by worms last year. I harvested them and made a bunch of delicious things with bonus protein that you couldn't see. I'm not super worried however..... market cherries go for a pretty penny and they have to be pretty

In our area people are selling nets to put ON TOP of the tree, great for birds, but no protection from the fly's unless I'm wrong about that.

What are other people doing to keep the worms away if they are taking their cherries to market?

This is year two for my dwarf cherry "romeo" (I have a Juliette in another location) I have mint and lemon balm growing around the tree. I'm hoping this keeps the fly's away in the first place....maybe? anything else I can add around the base?

any tips suggestions?

Congratulations!

So glad people are being supportive. Wanted to add something. When I gave birth I was in a big city in Canada that had NO midwives available in my area so I had to have a grumpy old Irish Doctor who is so horrible I still can't talk about it. So I decided to try and stay home as long as possible with the help of a doula (SO helpful) (http://www.dona.org/). The plan was when I went into labour I'd wait it out as long as I could and then get to the appointed hospital.

So the few days before my due date my birth pool wasn't there yet and I was getting the "hicks kicks".... anyway it never did arrive....so on the day I go in to labour, no big deal into the bath tub I go. January in Canada....we're out of hot water pretty quick. So off to the hospital with a birth pool.

During labour I developed a fever (GBS+ presents with a fever if not treated with antibiotics) and with out asking they give me penicillin. Biiiiig mistake as it sent me in to anaphylactic shock. They had lost my chart and didn't want to admit it.

So human error come is to play in the hospitals as well.

As for the pain. The gas honestly helped the most. Its not fun. but I'm sitting here 2 1/2 years later and have mostly forgotten.

Fallow your intuition. No one method is a 100% but the hospital error doesn't get mentioned enough.
