Thanks for the links and advice. Obviously one cannot do without the cob mass, that is what absorbs the heat and releases it. I will continue to look, but will have to be creative with some "old barn" wood or something for the front of the bench, and probably make some cushions for the seat. My wife loves the "Cabinish/old authentic look, not sure that is the word, so at least I have some options. I will post some pics if this is completed this fall, I am running out of time.... Thanks again.

I was wondering, I did some quick research on this forum, cannot find a post specifically with examples of the benches or masses. I am determined to build a RMH in my house addition currently underway, and my wife has told me that she doesn't want a big "cob" looking mass in this new room. Is there any examples and how to builds of a more "elegant" LOL looking bench or mass that would give some ideas, that are on this forum. I will keep looking. I have "google imaged" this but really cannot find anything. Thanks
