Zach, in the past 10 months, how has your driveway held up?

I'm thinking about doing this. My red clay driveway is 1/3 of a mile long and will cost a fortune to do anything. It winds through the woods and is goi g down hill most of the way. There is pretty good drainage along most of it.

It is currently red clay. It's great in the summer but since we've had rain in East Texas for almost three weeks straight, it's really slick and nasty.

I'm thinking I would apply it around 5 inches thick. It may take a while to get that much but it can't be worse than what I have now.

Hey, y'all,

I'm looking at starting a side business selling comfrey (and other herbs) to local midwives as a side business. I'm trying to figure out what to charge.

From my research online, dried comfrey leaves cost around $16 / pound on average with $5 shipping. I'm thinking I could get $18 / pound since they can drop it off when in town.

My big question is how much would fresh comfrey leaves cost and is there a preference to dried or fresh? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks! Eric

Assuming it is a hybrid comfrey (Bocking 4, 14, etc.) it would stay sterile. If it was true comfrey (Symphytum officinale) than it would propagate from seed just like the plant you took the leaf from.

Here's a question that could actually be answered.

How many Permies users are there?

I know that the most users ever online at the same time was 13,841.

I kind of figured that was the case but wanted to see if anyone had estimated it.

My question stems from a desire to design and create tools for designers. In putting together a business plan i would like to have some sort of number to place here. I know that Geoff Lawton alone has probably 2,500 to his name on the two online PDCs alone.

I guess i'm really just looking for the number of people interested in using permaculture design tools weather they have a legitimate PDC under their belt or not. 5,000? 20,000? Two Million?

Thanks for sharing Gary. Like you, I was brought up in the country while my wife was in the city. We have two boys under three and are in the process of moving to our land outside the city.

I have often thought about how this will effect our boys. While there are benefits to living in the city, I think country living has more to offer. As parents, we will have to be creative in getting our boys together with other kids. We do have an advantage by having cousins just down the street.

Thanks agin for posting the list.
