I think there is a LOT of valuable information put forth by Elaine, but I also feel that more of this information should become common knowledge to anyone who is planning on putting a plant in the ground. It is cost prohibitive to 99% of people. I feel that a lot of the information can be gleaned from youtube, the library, or an intrepid gardener/nerd friend like me. I would not sit through a course like this to learn how to use a microscope. How to make AACT. Those are definately things you could learn a lot just by doing it.

I am on the fence about taking the course, because I want to use the credential to help bring the knowledge down to the backyard gardener, or elementary classroom. But I don't have 800$ to give away. Last year I started making bokashi. I also took a master composter course and bought a 30 dollar microscope from fry's electronics. After many hours playing in the dirt...Building compost piles, worm bins, black soldier fly bins, and worm tea brewers... also reading LOTS & LOTS of books... I think it would be hard to fit what I have learned into five days, and allow me to take what I have learned and really use it. I am, by trade, a computer systems admin. If I took a five day class and tried to go and run a network with that knowledge, I would have a LOT of issues and questions (that bring up further questions). So when Elaine offers an advanced course that goes further into the introduction of the soil food web, I MAY be apt to take it. Until then, Im going to have my nose in the books and one eye on my soil, and the other on my plants.
