Building my first rocket stove useing Oil Drum and 8" dia. 1/4" thick High cardon steel pipe. Will this suck too much heat from my starting fire? Can I put the horizontal pipe on a 1/8 grade to channel the extra smoke to the burn chamber? How necessary is a vertical feed tube? Initially Ill be venting it through my old fireplace because I currently live in a doublewide It has sturdy floors but I have yet to see a TMH installed in one. Not to mention I need it ASAP and the Thermal mass will take time to build. Any and all help would be much appreciated.
