Thanks for the answers.. I need to find even if our local NF recreational cabin area has a set of rules that even address this issue.. A bit afraid to even ask.

as far as watching over them.. my idea was bring a chicken coop trailer to the cabin for summer only that would be secure at night and during the day they would be contained in a small portable fence area daily so I would be there. Also I think the neighbors would be okay with it.. It seems like lots of ranging goes on in FS lands anyway.. but this neighborhood chicken thing might be new! IF you can point me to any existing FS policy that would be great! We can have pets no problem so chicken pets?

I was wondering whether anyone in California has attempted to have chickens on their national forest property or maybe any National Forest recreational property. We have a cabin in a recreation area with lots about 1/2 to 1/3 acres each and I don't think anybody has attempted to raise chickens there during the summer but interested in attempting to bring out chickens up for 3 months of the summer. Possibly bees too. Any ideas?
