Come join the Cherry Pond crew for our first on site, off-grid Permaculture Design Certificate course.
The 72+ hour course will be held over a two week period and will follow the curriculum as laid out in Bill Mollison's masterpiece "Permaculture- A Designer's Manual". The course will cover a wide range of topics such as ethics and principles of Permaculture methods of design, pattern understanding, regenerative agricultural practices, food forestry, dry-land strategies, natural building, soil, water harvesting and cleaning, land surveying, map understanding, eco-system rejuvenation, renewable energies, urban permaculture and
invisible structures

"Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labour; and of looking at plants and animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single product system."
-Bill Mollison

What to expect out of the course?

Our aim is for you to come out of this course with a clear understanding of how to create regenerative human settlements, in different climates, in tune with Permaculture ethics. Theoretical classes will be spread out, in topic relevant areas, around the farm with a variety of practical lessons offered, we want you to get your hands dirty as much as possible. We will also have a number of guest speakers to learn from and a site visit to our neighbouring farm.

Why Cherry pond?

We are in the pioneering stage of setting up our Permaculture paradise here at Cherry Pond and feel we can provide a lot of hands on, practical advice during your stay here. We aren't just talking about living in a regenerative, low-tech manner, we are passionately engaged in doing so and relish the opportunity to help those wishing to set up their own "peace" of Permaculture land. We are a remote, off-grid site in one of Portugal's largest natural parks, the Serra Da Estrela, making this a fantastic opportunity for those wishing to do a PDC whilst submerged in nature. To observe, to listen and to learn.
Come, inspire, get inspired and have a lot of fun in the process.
