I live about 30 miles south of Olathe and we're about to move onto our permaculture property, though we'll be staying in a 5th wheel for a while until we can get our ducks all in a row to start building. Some counties in KS have few if any building codes, while others (our county, unfortunately) have a lot. Just make sure that you double-check with the county building department before buying land. I'm totally fascinated by Earthships and would love to see one.
