I put them along the bottom of the fence line to deter neighbor dogs and cats. Works pretty well and also keeps the weeds down a bit.

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!
My go to food for recovery from trauma or serious illness is Chinese Congee - a dilute rice porridge to which other ingredients can be added according to the specific ailment. Using bone broth as the liquid would be good in this case.
You can find the basic recipe and myriad variations online.

Stephen Harrod Buhner is my go-to for herbal knowledge. He was an extraordinary researcher and consolidator of all the available information from scientific, historical and indigenous sources.
As far as practicing any ‘alternative’ health methods for income you will need to love fighting for your right to do so. Invaluable knowledge for your own health though!
Old lady hoer here😖 Hoping these will be more substantial than ones I’ve been using, without dislocating my shoulders or back. I know it’s a lot to ask.

I’ve tried most of these ideas and I always go back to Duluth garden pants, with pockets, loops, Velcro, zippers, and a five gallon paint bucket with a pocket “apron” on it. If I’m doing one specific task(yeah, right), like pruning, maybe I can get it done without the bucket - but more often than not…

Deb sievert wrote:Oops!  I forgot….  Also check out the Siddi quilts from India.  Very much the same.  And I like any craft or job where you can do it your own way!

Here is a detail of my Siddi quilt made from old silk saris.

Thanks! Some great idears here.
Yes, I have thought that they would be pretty tasty with their rich, and organic, diet. Will probably try trapping first, saw an ingenious J-tube trap made of PVC.

I was glad to see this forum started-but I’m afraid it has not encouraged me! I have 2 acres with mature hazelnut, hickory, walnut, pecan, chestnut, butternut and various fruit trees. The property is a little sylvan island in a sea of cow, horse and hay pasture. All squirrels come here to eat and I get ZERO nuts - except the bad ones of course. They are gone way before they are ripe. They will leave a few butternuts laying around until everything else but the buckeyes are gone but like them, apparently, I don’t find those very palatable.
If I get hungry enough I guess I’ll eat the squirrels but I am loving my plant based diet for now and have resigned myself to ordering nuts online :^(

65yo solitary female gardener here. I know what you’re feeling!
These are the tools that help me most:

Horihori knife
Good quality cultivating fork!
Shuffle (Hula) hoe
Battery powered hedge trimmer, string trimmer, and chainsaw a I love my Makita
Sheet mulching
A bagger on my mower - no raking

Also, doing shorter but more numerous work sessions, changing up the activities to minimize repetitious movements.
Also very important to stop working BEFORE you feel pain and fatigue. Simple stretches before and after working helps a lot - hands especially.

Turmeric and CBD for inflammation.

These guys ate all the dill! Brought one in to observe the transformation and a perfect adult emerged. Awesome!
