Hello Permies!

I'm the current owner and steward of a beautiful 39-acre farm and forest on the western slope of the Cascades, just 35 miles from downtown Portland.  I'm seeking potential farm partners interested in living in an independent tiny household on the property, but collaborating to build and maintain homestead-scale food production systems (e.g., gardens, orchards and pastured animals) and helping to steward the 20 acres of native forest, wetland, and pasture/meadow.

More information about the farm story, ecology, and vision can be found here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Si6C5fFJ04NethUsQZf5UzPLFUnEFlDd/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=100952302784993064476&rtpof=true&sd=true

Please purple mooseage me if you can't access the link or would like more information.

We are seeking a person or persons with farming experience interested in partnering with us to build a permaculture/regenerative agriculture farm on our 39-acre property near Sandy, Oregon (34 miles from downtown Portland, Oregon). Approximately 12 acres are in field/old pasture (fallow for 10+ years), 14 acres in forest, and 2 acres in pond and wetlands. We also have a small garden, patches of blueberries and raspberries, a shop, storage barn, 1920’s house, and a cabin.

Long-term, we hope to have a whole-farm regenerative agriculture system, across field, forest and wetland/pond. The crops and animals raised on the farm will be dependent on various factors, including the interests of the partnering farmer(s), the capacity of the land to sustain production, and the types of crops that are suitable within a (mostly) perennial cropping system. Organic methods are being used across the farm, but we will strive to go beyond organic in many ways.

On-site housing is available in a 250ft2 cabin, which includes a kitchenette, bathroom with shower (hot and cold water), electric heat pump, and wood stove.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience designing, building, and developing a working regenerative agriculture/permaculture farm from the ground up, and designing and operating a commercial farming enterprise integrated into the overall permaculture farm design.

Start date is flexible, but ideally around April 1, 2016. If interested, please email a resume and four references at former places of employment to jmaluap@yahoo.com. Also describe what kind of arrangement would be most desirable for you. Position is not paid, but housing will be provided in exchange for labor.
