Tracy Wandling wrote:Hi Trey;

I don't know if you are aware of our Book Promo program here at Permies. Basically, we set up a thread for the book, write a review, and run a contest for 3 people to win a book. Then you answer questions written to you in the appropriate forum for a week (Monday-Friday). At the end of the week, we pick 3 winners, and you send them each a book.

We are running a promo right now, that started today, for The Permaculture Market Garden by Zach Loeks.

Book thread with review

Welcome author thread

You can go to the market garden forum and see that people are starting threads, asking Zach questions. He will be answering questions in the market garden forum until Friday, then we'll make the draw for the 3 winners.

Does this sound like something you'd be interested in participating in? Authors have found that they make a lot of sales after doing this. People love to feel like they 'know' the author, and to be able to ask questions and generally get chummy.

Let me know if you're interested, and I'll get you on the list. We can do it quite soon if you like, after this current one is done.

Cheers
Tracy

Hello! My name is Trey Watson and I made an intro thread about a year ago. I've been reading Permies on and off since then, most recently this excellent thread on permaculture in extreme desert (we have some property in West Texas).

I may have mentioned this in the intro threat, but I recently published a book called The Lazy Gardener's Guide to Easy Edibles: 25+ Edible Plants Anyone Can Grow. I think the book may be of interest to some here. The idea of the book is growing edible plants that need minimal care. Most of the book's content I learned by default (finding plants that were still growing and edible even though I neglected them); other parts of it I learned by intentionally neglecting plants. I know that sounds harsh!

Here's a quick trailer for the book on YouTube:

And here's a the cover of the book:

The print book is too expensive on Amazon for my liking...I'm working with them to lower the price and I'm working with Barnes and Noble to get the book into their stores. So that print price should come down. In the meantime, we will probably offer the print book for sale on the book website (The Lazy Gardener or on my main page at Legg Creek Farm

If anybody has a website where they post book reviews of gardening (or related) book, let me know and I can send you a copy of the book for review.

Thanks for reading!

I hate for my first post here to be about me…but that’s how you introduce yourself to forums, I guess! My name is Trey Watson and I am an author, business owner, father, and gardener. My interest in permaculture is recent, but the drive to produce my family’s own food has been with me for years.

Currently, I own and operate Legg Creek Farm (http://www.leggcreekfarm.com), where we grow and sell fruit trees and other awesome edible plants. While at this time everything is conventionally grown, we are trying to zero in on plants that you can grow chemical-free with relative ease. We supply a number of commercial orchards with trees both here in Texas and beyond. But anyone can order through the website. One of the things we are most excited about this year is the Dunstan American chestnut trees we finally have ready for sale. Most of our customer base is in the Southeast and Texas, though we are providing apple trees for orchards in Illinois and Wisconsin.

I am also an author, and I have gardening books available in print or ebook. They are all available on Amazon, but one of them is in Barnes and Nobles in the U.S. Southeast. That book is Southern Bounty: How to Grow and Enjoy Southeastern Native Fruits and Nuts (available: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CTSAEVQ). I think that book might be of interest to members of this forum that live in that region of the U.S.

I really look forward to browsing this forum more and learning from you fine people. Thanks for reading!
