I started my compost pile yesterday. The wooden bin was left by the previous owner. Along with dirt, it had a rusted metal fence and some plastic wrappers in it that I had to clean out.
After clearing it out, I added dry leaves and kitchen scraps to get it going.
I woke up this morning to a poison ivy rash on my hands and arms.
Could the poison ivy be from leaves that fell last fall? Or could there be poison ivy within the composted dirt? Either way, is it an issue for poison ivy to be involved with my compost?
While raking it, I I did dig up some roots but I don't remember if there was a green plant growing in there.
