I am trying to grow slippery elm this year from seed. I potted them this fall and little to no sign of sprouting has occurred, but my question is. Is my taproot doomed to fail because eventually I will be transplanting these precious trees? The reason I am concerned is because I have heard Paul say any transplanting and you will loose the taproot. Maybe I could just cut out the bottom of the pot and put the whole thing in the ground? Or maybe it is not to late to put the little sprouts directly in the earth? Thanks..
