Ahh yes padawan, there is a way to increase the size of a bonsai before putting it in a display pot! You can either plant it in the ground if it is tolerant of the weather in your climate, or you can put it in a much larger pot. When it has reached the desired size, you start the process of getting it ready for the display pot, which takes time. Root pruning and trimming back the excess growth is needed, then time for recovery after doing it. Basically it goes in a smaller and smaller pot until it finally goes in the display pot, where only the occasional root pruning and normal pinching/whatever maintenance the species needs is done.

Only this past year in 2016 did I discover Oikos Tree Crops. After my spring order absolutely thrived, I decided I must order more! A search of this forum has shown plenty of people have ordered from Oikos. Sooo, maybe you guys can help me out. I want to add additional nut trees. I already have some hazelnuts, but more trees is always better!

Has anyone purchased any of their Buartblack Walnut trees? When did you plant them and how are they doing? What is your soil and climate like?

Hopefully you find tasty and useful varieties. Alas, the only wild apples I've found in my area are mealy and unsweet, and also they spoil very very quickly. I have a couple wild apples on the property that I've thought about using the apple wood from for crafts, but the deer love them so they stay! Plus, they can help pollinate my purposefully planted apples too.
