Hello! I live in a rental, with a nice yard. The owner loves her cookie cutter yard. But as nature needs our cooperation I let the grass and “weeds” grow. Today they re knee high. I dont have a scythe, just an electric mower. In Belgium we have may not mow month, and except for the stubborn one many seem to like it. Only thing is, end of may, the flowers are not yet in seed, so to cut them off would be ridiculous. The grasses are high, many varieties and swing beautifully in the winds.Someone advised me to cut the high grasses as they would inhibit the natural evolution of a flower field?
Anybody any advice? When to mow, how much what and when?
What would happen if you just let nature do its thing? That’s what I m inclined to do but my landlord will not be happy.
Her main concern was that the cookie cutter lawn would be well maintained and not a wilderness.
VERY UNFORTUNATELY

Hello
I m looking at  this wooden cabin in Sweden, i d love to have a rocket stove inside it. Would it be possible? Can anyone tell me if these existing heaters are worth anything? The owner says they re multifunctional: electricity, fuel or pellets. I d go for the latter but would like to know what you think and how i could convert this to a more eco friendly alternative?
Thank you

Does anybody know of a good and environmentally friendly soil mix to start small and light seeds in? (like chamomile for example, or other medicinals) THANK YOU
I read on perlite, vermiculite and prefer not to use them as they take a lot of energy in the production process, and of course no peat!

i have a question: i built a swale on contour (that is with the berm downhill along the contour line, so the bottom side of the trench)
there are two sides at the swale though, the trench has an upper side too (uphill)
this one is not level at all on my piece of land, does that matter?
I hope you get my question
I think i know the answer but just checking if someone could give me a light bulb?

Oh yes and yet another question: does the bottom side or the upper side of the trench (or both sides) have to be at an angle of 45 degrees to prevent erosion?

THANKS
