Hello..... I just came across this site in searching for small scale homesteading in Maine. I would imagine that you have been blessed to find someone with whom to share your earthly abode by now. My interest is to inquire of location/areas where land may be on a cheaper scale. I'm not sure if I noticed your location ( was thinking it was a Maine website)...forgive me if I am mistaken. It sounds like you have a place of peace and solitude; as I am hoping to go off grid (somewhat) although much later than life allowed. I may be considered over the hill in years; having # 76 birthday around the corner; regardless I have been given the name: 3D Mom...from daughters ...(different, devoted & determined) I am a Christian woman of deep faith in Almighty God. I am country woman from the mountains of Wild & Wonderful West Virginia. I have always believed that if we want something bad enough....it is better late than never.
