I appreciate all of the responses.  The project I have in mind is pretty large so maybe this idea will consume to much fuel and time.  I have made the decision to do a small bed and see what happens.

As far as commitment to materials I am open to anything non toxic but I have a bad back and my husband is building the kitchen so this one is on me.  I have children who can help but any machine aided or grown man kind of materials are out.

I had considered doing something like cedar and rubbing an oil in to lengthen its life but I was worried the cedar might inhibit growth since it won't be sealed.  Does anyone know?
I want to build a terraced garden up a steep slope on my land.  I have built raised beds before and just used untreated planks screwed together knowin that after a few seasons I would need to replace them.  Not a problem since the rotted wood could be incorporated into the graden.  For my current project I do not want to have to rebuild every few years as I will likely nĂ©ed to include stairs and standing platforms between each level.
I was watching Fixer Upper on home and garden TV and they showed the Shou Sugi Ban technique on wood panelling for a house boat.  Does any one know if this would be viable in a garden?  I believe it would be non toxic.  This would be a garden used for vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
It is supposed to be a 3in1 Cherry tree.  There should be a primary with 2 additional grafted branches.  I will try and get a close up of the V but if this is the only graft then this is not what I ordered.

Is anyone experienced enough to tell me if this tree looks grafted.  It all looks like native buds to me but the nursery that shiped it insists the grafted branches were trimmed for shipping.  This would be logical but the tree that came is a single stem/trunk with many buds.  I took close-ups of some of the buds with the good camera to try and find someone to tell me if these look grafted or native.  I am new to grafted trees but these look like native buds not trimmed grafted branches.  My yard space is limited so I purchased a 3in1 for the sake of having pollinators without multiple trees.
