Hey permies,

We recently just moved to a small community and while I am all for humanure, I am a little concerned about some of there techniques. In particular, I am a little concerned with the proximity of there human waste compost bin to their veggie garden. The compost bin is located only 20 or 30 feet from the veggies, and up hill. I would be worried that rain might wash pathogens into their vegetables. Can any one provide some info on a safe distance to keep human waste from edible vegetable gardens?

Hello all,

Im currently living outside of Stuttgart and recently completed my PDC in Spain. I was planning on returning in August to do an internship there but unfortunately the internship program was canceled. I have been trying to
find other opportunities but most of what I find on the internet is so expensive which makes me suspicious of their intentions right from the beginning. I was wondering if any one knew of any projects in Europe (especially central europe: Germany, France, Northern Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, ect.) that would offer somesort of internship/educational work trade. I do have experience with wwoofing and volunteering and will probably resort to that if I do not find anything else. I do enjoy the concept and have been doing a lot of wwoofing over the last two years but I would like to find something that is more permaculture focused and can put a little more emphesis on the educational aspect of the exchange.

Any information would be greatly appreciated or if any one has projects of there own and would be interested in a work/education exchange then please let me know. I have a wide range of experience and skills including: kitchen gardening, animal husbandry, permaculture, natural building, carpentry, stone work, irregation, construction and many others. The areas I would love to learn more with and be involved in inlcude: beekeeping, mushroom production, food forests, water conservation/aquaculture, pattern understanding, healing plants, native/wild plants, seedsaving, and many others.

I hope to hear back from you and thanks in advanced for any info.

Happy gardening ya´ll.
