Thanks. I gave your reply a thumbs up, but I may have accidentally also clicked on the "not helpful" button. Sorry if I did.

Well, this is kind of gross. I was putting my dogs' poo into a bag and adding in some coffee grounds with the idea of breaking it down a bit before throwing it out. Flies got in it and laid eggs, and now I have a veritable sh*tload of larvae. I also have an egg-laying hen who loves larvae. My question is: should the larvae be extracted from the dog poo/coffee ground mélange and rinsed before feeding them to the hen, or should I just dump the "load" into her pen and she can pick them out herself? If the latter, is there any danger of nasty bacteria contaminating the eggs? Thanks.
M. Fukuoka used rice straw to mulch his barley and barley straw to mulch his rice. Is it advisable to mulch wheat straw for wheat? If not, what sort of straw should you use as mulch for wheat - other than rice straw, as there is no rice straw available locally. Thanks.

Can old terra cotta roof tiles be crushed down back to powder, spread on the ground, and reused as soil? Thanks.

No, not some twisted version of the 12 Days of Christmas, but a harsh reality at an impoverished dog shelter in Romania. Two brave souls care for over 600 dogs which would otherwise be let to die of stavation at the pound, run over by cars on the highway, or freeze to death in winter. Romania, a country of 20 million people, has a stray dog population of 6 million. Via internet, I have befriended some of the volunteers at this shelter. Conditions for the workers who live onsite are very difficult. One of the problems I've been thinking about is the question of the waste. I learned that the dog waste accumulates and forms large mounds of poop. It's hauled off if/when they have extra money to pay for it. So, my thought is, what is a simple, effiicient permaculture solution for this waste using only easily found materials?
I thank you in advance for any and all suggestions. I just ask you to remember this one word before replying...impoverished.
