I will add that while being a physically challenging job, it is also an intellectually stimulating livestock project, with our herd representing nearly 100% of the genetic footprint for the Manglitsa pig breed in the US.  It is a very unique breed that shapes our land, and produces some of the finest pork in the world.  We are currently growing to meet demand for the foremost Mangalitsa charcuterie project in the country.

We are searching for the right person to join our team at Abraxas Farm.  This is a management position requiring previous experience handling livestock and operating equipment.  Fencing and pasture management experience are a plus.  Mechanic skills a super plus.  Labor intensive w/ regular and repeated lifting of 80+ lbs.

Compensation includes: great housing, a small salary for ~20hrs/wk (plus paid overtime hours), and of course, organic meat.  We see this as a good position for someone exposed to market livestock operations, with the desire to advance and hone their skills in homesteading/land manangement and market livestock/farm business.  Perhaps someone who desires to become a meat producer themself in years to come.  We are a 50-acre homestead turned farm business in Big Arm, Montana.  Please share with your friends, and send an email to schedule an interview.  Opportunities for growth in both farm businesses.

Greetings!  My wife and I are establishing our farm on in 50 acres NW Montana, and seeking help this season (now - when it gets cold again).  We're primarily raising sheep and pigs, and are planning a mellow summer with little marketing/production while tackling our first projects as budget allows.  Sectioning pastures, developing springs, construction on a walipini, cabin, pole barn and sheep bunker.... some cheesemaking R+D, tree planting, natural gardening, and having a good time on the river.  We would love hands on some of the more challenging projects, but ultimately would like to have another trustworthy set of eyes to watch the place when we are away from the farm (travel, hit a show, get lost in the woods, etc.).  We're right on Flathead Lake.   Not sure what kind of compensation we can provide yet, but can talk through if you're interested.
