Hello Permies!

This is Vidya writing on behalf of all our Danyadara community, a non-for-profit permaculture farm located in Southern Spain. We are quite new in permies.com (also we are quite new ourselves).

We started a beautiful permaculture project a year ago with design around the land of a world-class yoga retreat centre. We planted thousands of trees and created a garden that feeds the kitchen of the centre. So far we can see great progress in the landscape but it is very localized and small-scale. This year we want to kickstart something that will have a bigger impact so we are launching ourselves into transforming a 7 hectare field that was previously used (and abused) for wheat in an industrial agriculture model.

Our goal is to create an abundant food forest that will regenerate the land and inspire the local community. It is a philanthropic project that runs on donations only so we count on our friends to spread the word and putting us on the map so we can buy the trees, create the rainwater harvesting infrastructure, build the greenhouse and run the project.

Join prominent natural builders and artists Athena, Bill and Benito Steen and the Ranch crew for an unforgettable and unprecedented collaboration of 2 weeks of earthen building, plasters and artistry at our wonderful facilities on the edge of the rainforest.  We will cover wall systems, clay and lime plasters, earthen floors, sculpting and more during this unique, comprehensive and life-changing course.

Rancho Mastatal has been hosting transformational natural building workshops since 2002.  The Ranch has become a regional leader in the realm of natural building with focuses on earth (wall systems, plasters, floors, and finishes), bamboo, and timber frame construction.  Our campus has numerous examples of relevant building styles in our climate and has become a model for those interested in building in the tropics and beyond.  We hope that you’ll consider joining us for this incredible opportunity to learn from the Steen’s and our competent team of natural builders.
