I like that idea too. I have looked at this place and find it interesting : https://academyosr.com/utah-osr-land-coop/
Setting up in a simple business sense seems less culty, yes? Like obviously anyone looking to live there wants what it offers and from there everyone needs to learn to get along?
But for me going by myself  to live in Utah feels too far away from family and my networks, although seems like great possibility for having a horse, which is attractive, and two acres to design myself also attractive and with neighbors that we can share bigger tools or knowledge is a +.  Also a functioning infrastructure, town is cool.
I'm going to read up on it more, I just saw your post this morning. Did I see horse therapy barn listed as one of the things in the community? I might have to move there....at least visit and check it out. Love this idea.

This is fascinating, do you know of other transition towns starting? I’m not ready to be in Utah , I’m in Tennesssee.

Thanks

I put some elderberry in last year and must have been the right spot because they are looking healthy. I have been buying elderberry juice in the winter months to help keep flu away, which seems to work for me. I'm a massage therapist so have plenty of time to be exposed to people . Anyway, yeah, I want this book because I want to make my own elderberry stuff!

I have started some pawpaw from seed that I got from KSU. I followed directions on giving them a cool/cold time in the refrigerator and planted them. They have been growing but two of them looked like they died- lost their leaves and looked like a twig in the ground. They are in the tall kind of starter pot to allow for a taproot. I just kept them , one has really just shrunken and died, the other recently made a few leaves and suddenly I see has a buddy growing next to it. I don’t think I put two seeds in one pot, would it already be making a shoot? I’ve put some vermicompost in there and hoping for the best. They are definitely light sensitive, the ones I have lost were getting too much direct sun... how long should I keep them in pots before transplanting ? Is there a certain time period they would have a growth spurt? Mine are like a year and a half.

Drying them seems an absurd idea... I have no others.

I don’t know where you live, but if you have access to something like nextdoor.com, you could just announce fresh paws paws available for purchase/pick up at a certain time and location. My pawpaws aren’t producing yet, but that’s my plan , I’m in an area that is densely populated enough though.

Hellowelcome, I’ve been following you on Instagram , I just recognized your face ! I’m a New Yorker that ended up buying a house in Nashville that has an acre yard that I’m implementing Permaculture design, and was thrilled that pawpaw could be part of that. I would think that NYC would be too harsh for a pawpaw, but what do I know... there is a mature pawpaw visible from the BQE! (Brooklyn Queens Expressway) anyway,
Cheers✨

Ashwaghanda tincture 3 or 4x a day- has eliminated hot flashes for me. I'm also taking B vitamins and eating cordyceps daily, so maybe it's all. But I'm pretty amazed.
