I like you southern spain/portugal locations. You can grow vegetables/herbs year round, store nuts (bulk calories) and dehydrate fruits/mushroom for the short winter. Honey fits perfectly and possible a fish pond but you can go probably go fishing while sailing.

Thanks so much for the answer! i think i will stick to the southern spain. i'm working on a container ship, so not much fishing here haha, but i actually worked on a fishing trawler for some months, a few years back. but yea pond and maybe found something near a mountain with a water source, would be the ultimate place to live the rest of my life

Hello everyone, i have wanted to live off grid for some years now, and finally the dream is close. i have saved up some money for a property. my job is as a sailor, and i work 2 months out, and then home 1 month, so i can still keep the job, what ever country i choose to live in.

SO NOW! what i wanted to know, is what country is the easiest to live off grid in? i was thinking a lot about southern spain, because it is easy to grow crops and fruits, and you have a lot of sun for power, but the rules about building and such, are really hard in spain in my opinion. so what country is the best, and easiest, when it comes to the law and rules? i have been thinking about portugal, og maybe bulgaria, but i dont really know. hope someone can explain the different rules in some countries.
