I have been watching a lot of
Alec Steele lately, I love watching people forge things by hand! He's quite cinematic about it in some videos too. Someone earlier mentioned torbjorn, he's a really good blacksmith youtuber as well.
Watching his videos has made me want to forge myself. I built myself a humble little
Hole Forge. Unlike the guy in that video, I used hardwood charcoal instead of wood and I used a black pipe as a tuyere as it's cheap and I wanted to avoid galvanized material. I bought a swedish style
blacksmith hammer because I'm a spazz and used a 2" x 2" piece of steel stock on a platform as an anvil (it's hard to work with, but way cheaper than a real anvil and I still have a fullering edge.)
It's a lot of fun, way more fun than I thought it would be and I was pretty optimistic to begin with. I like making my own tools, I just wish steel was cheaper...I don't like scavenging.
