Thank you for you response, it really is priceless.

About the land auctions that makes sense with the price doubling what they list, maybe to get people to the auction. I always wondered if i could ever get a land mortgage to buy something at auction, and what the auctions themselves were like as (as you said) the prices for the land always seems on the low end (as i said probably to get people there).

Thank you for sharing your experience ill consider it further,

as always thank you.

Hi beautiful peeps:

One can see on the government website info about grants, but my question is, is there a more layman website explaining what grants (if any) are available for someone wanting to say improve 1-2 acres of land (small holding style) for a service eg Free Range Eggs?

Any experience of people that have had help by any institutions much appreciated, or any advice in general.

Looking to buy some land, any size less than 2 acres really, pretty much anywhere in the lower part of Britain to live on a temp. accommodation and help produce food for the community.

Looking to spend  10-15 for a small parcel of land and looking for any loans, mortgages or grants to help.

Thank you

Hi!

Good thinking I will try with a tea candle, an upturned glass/jar and a base with 2 holes.

Thank you

Hi all. Thank you for the wonderful forum.

I know there are so many knowledgeable people here, I actually remember reading about rocket stoves and mass heaters here and was blown away by peoples experiences, knowledge and skills.

On to the question which I'm sure is simple I'm just curious as to how it might go about working:

If you had a box which was airtight except for 2 holes on the 'floor' on even side open to the air - and a fire burning in the middle, would the convection currents eventually cause one hole to become the 'exhaust' with hot air leaving one and the other to become the 'intake' drawing cold air in?

Would size of the holes, or level relative to each other (one hole in a recess 'lower down' in the box) make any difference?

Looking at means of heating where the air inlet and exhaust are on the ground.

1 other thing to mention is the system is closed, therefore it wouldn't matter if exhaust was 'blown back' into the box, just curious how the physics works.

Sincerest thanks,
