I vaguely recall a hundred dollar fee for asking questions. Is that still a thing? Maybe it would be better for me to schedule a different visit to learn about the willow feeders and hugels? I'm pretty introverted, I can be social for a day but not several days on end, so the longer programs aren't a good fit for me. I hadn't realized this particular event was intended to be an extended one.

Thanks, Alexa.

I'd like to come, but will probably drive over for just one day. If possible, I'd really really like to talk with someone knowledgeable about the details of the willow feeders and hugel mounds, as I haven't had much luck sorting results from hypotheses in the forum threads. I don't know that I'm up for hand-splitting a face cord in one afternoon though.

Question: do the half-point nest badge bits count as one bit, or only half bits? I'm up to 11 tasks completed, but at least half are half-pointers. And April is coming up quickly!!

Thanks, Alexa.

One of our future landscaping plans is a meditation spiral. This morning's snow gave me the idea of a meditation oval? The snow in front of the house gets a bit built up, while the part of the deck past the house was blown clear today, so I took the measurement on the protected step to show actual snow depth. The big lesson was a meditation walk just outside the door is far more likely to get used than one further down the yard, suggesting the landscape planning may need to be tweaked.

I've never seen bamboo in Montana, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't grow here. Speedy wood source maybe? But I've also heard it can be invasive. I dunno, I haven't learned (yet?) how to grow stuff.

I haven't had time to look too deeply yet, but maybe one of you already knows of an equivalent to EWG for wood types? Fsc.org appears to be more about certification processes than a user guide to graded products.
Ahhh! This pep thing is really teaching me a lot about how to think outside the (conventional) box. Which I believe is the goal? Now to learn about what woods have straight super hard grain and how to find them... (wanders off to explore some more)
This is a variation on a nest bb, but I think it belongs in homesteading:

"Conventional homestead techniques and projects
Projects might involve glue, paint, and toxins that we typically want to minimize in the other aspects
A few things that might fit better in another aspect, but that aspect was “full”

When you inherit the land from Otis, you will get two homes.   The “old house” that Otis was born in and the “new house” that Otis built."

Turns out Otis's" new house" had only a half bath on the main floor, so it was remodeled and a bathtub was added. The tub and surround needed caulking. Not replacing old caulk (nest bb) but new conventional gick caulk.

1 point?

In preparation for deep cleaning a bathroom, here are the cleaners I made:

(note I do not like scented things so did not add the commonly used essential oils, edible or not)
