The main reason why Americans use the Screw type jars is that they were invented in the USA over 100 years ago.. The jars are standardized in size and two sizes of lids. Because of the standardization you can collect old jars that are older than you are and they still work. Most of the jars are made in the USA and only a few very cheap ones dome in from China.. We don't have to ship jars and rubbers half way around the world.. I can by NEW in 2020 a dozen pint (500ml) jars for under $8 US dollars. They come with a ring and a lid each at that price for a couple of bucks more i can get 12 quart (1 Liter) jars, again with rings and lids.. On the reusing lids.. a box of dozen lids costs me around 2 cents. That is about 2 cents per jar.. A weck rubber can be used a maximum of 5 times. they cost way more than 10 Cents. In the USA, a great many of us have gardens and depend on that food for the year. We don't want to hunt through a dozen sizes of jars and lids. Weck lids come in 5 sizes! I think IF we had started 100+ years ago with a weck type jar and had an infrastructure based around producing the jars and lids and produced them in quantity the price would not be the HUGE cost people have with Weck jars.
SO standardized sizes and lids. local production on both lids and jars. LOW price for both. Available at even a lot of the grocery stores and for sure any farm or home center and places like Walmart, Target and many other type stores let's just say normally you can find them anywhere.. You also don't have to keep track of all those clips either.. and those aren't cheap.
so with all of that tell me WHY we should be using a very expensive product like Weck when we have a product developed in our grandparents time that is still viable and produced here in our own country and available EVERYWHERE without having it shipped from say Germany to Australia.
