Hi,
I'm desperate for help in building a small/tiny, preferably all brick RMH to get me through winter.
The past year(s) both Peter van den Berg and Matt Walker have graciously offered help. but Life keeps throwing up hurdles. I'm currently in a cast and one-handed due to an accident, and will most likely remain fairly incapacitated for the foreseeable future. I was going to install a stove by Matt, but simply can't do all the necessary work right now (will still buy the stove, Matt!). I now need a small RMH in the North-facing annex that will function as a buffer against (most of) the cold.
The most important aspect is that it can not rely on a flue to burn and should have near-zero exhaust. This because the flue's outlet will be situated between buildings, ergo loads of wind vortexes, and because my neighbors will counter any attempt at burning wood as soon as they smell a whiff of smoke. I used to rely on a tiny potbellied Taiwanese wood stove, but had to stop using it 5 years ago when my neighbors started complaining after my partner passed away and refurbishing plans came to a grinding halt.
I have about 50-60 fire bricks as well as a stack of bricks outside, and also a bunch of small hexagonal concrete pavers. There's also a yard full of junk that may throw up items I need, like steel lid-less ammo boxes, old glass laundry machine doors, etc. Due to the flue outlet (hole in the wall) the stove can either be built right underneath, or in a corner with a pipe going up and then horizontal for about 1 meter.
It doesn't have to be pretty, as long as it's functional for at least this season, in the hope I can get to building a permanent stove the coming year.
Any help and ideas would be appreciated so, so much, because in my current condition I'm not looking forward at another winter with inside temperatures of 12C or less.
