Regarding the matter of wood cinders in potato beds...wood remains regularly cause scab on potatoes. I have had direct insight, so I can say
that my potatoes developed with wood remains had scab. These were generally the purple assortment, they are inclined to scab in any case. Yet, a large portion of the column had wood remains, the other half didn't. The wood debris treated piece of the line had significantly more scab than the part that wasn't dealt with. Simply saying...
