Great article and sadly a topic which is not yet very popular regarding how to get rid of tropical pasture land and create a food forest from scratch. From my experience there are many elements a few of them is to get other plants ASAP to replace the existing pasture. Iv worked well with Bamboo such as Guadua angustifolia and Dendrocalamus asper working with lot of vetiver grass and perrenial peanut (mani forrajero) for top soil erosion control and enhancing the microorganism deeper in the soil. Most tropical fruit trees will need slightly longer than the clumping tropical bamboos to establish. Vetiver is also pretty fast but it needs to be chopped every 3-4 month. Also I would recommend focusing on endemic tree and shrubs which grow food for the local fauna like birds and insects which impact positively the biodiversity and improve the natural balance.

IMO getting rid of the tropical pasture is extremely big issues in the global near future. Thinking of all the current animal-free meat and diary products which can be plant-based foods. There will be a lot of brutal disruption regarding the animal meat and diary industry and the connected agriculture... Its all-ready happening.

Thank you Scott. Yes. Not going back to EU. Iv seen enough of old Europe in this life.
But IM moving on elsewhere now after 5 years and lots of personal changes.

When I started in 2016 this was all pasture. I believe they had something like 25 cows here. So we have been able to plant over 1500 fruit trees and more than 2000 bamboo plants. Some fruit trees have been producing for the very first time now. Everything needs time. So far we have created various food forest areas. This is a nice opportunity absolutely Also on the bottom of the farm are 2-3 semi flat areas which are highly valuable for industrial / business activities. All on the main nacional road (E45).

Hi all,
Iv been exploring all the information there is regarding Eco-Villages and permaculture cooperatives in Mexico also regarding organic constructions which materials such as bamboo.

Can you recommend any locations which are NOT at the beach

My priorities to find a place for permaculture living in Mexico are:
1. Not to far off community which is all-ready self sufficient or produces healthy organic foods which they are willing to sell regarding good local food / fruits / vegetables
2. Slightly mountain topography
3. Can be near other inter expats.
4. Water
5. Accesible
6. Internet

So far it seems that www.BosquedeNiebla.com is one of the most advanced eco-village cooperative working with the principles of permaculture and natural bamboo constructions. Are there any others? Also the region of Huatusco in Veracruz Mexico seems interesting IMO.

I have more than 5 years of experience in creating a permaculture farm in another country in latin america.
And would love to discuss our ideas and visions with like-minded people regarding Mexico.
