Hello all,
Please forgive the rudenss of my first post being a request for help! Is there a 'How to get started' thread already that I can reference? I didn't see a sticky section of threads.
I'm very interested in getting started in woodworking. My interest was sparked by seeing some Japanese joinery and then thanks to the YouTube algo, seeing some Mr Chickadee vids. I have no practical experience of woodwork or even tools - everything I do would be from scratch as it were. I would love to get to the point of being able to make my own furniture such as a floating platform bed, or some mid-century style beds, etc but in the meantime, would be thrilled to learn about dovetailing, making boxes (maybe even my own humidor) and then a work bench. I've seen a lot of videos, but it seems they pre-suppose some level of skill or rather a lot of equipment. I'm more drawn to hand tools to be honest.
Secondly, I came across diyjapanesejoinery.com I've corresponded with the owner a couple time and he seems very earnest and sincere. Any thoughts? If an open forum is not the right place for such a question, my apologies.
Cheers!
