I have 3 pressure canners, a1940s version with 8 screws and pressure gauge, a 23 quart and 16 quart.  When canning 60 lbs of Tuna I’m using all 3 all day.  Each batch requires 90 minutes at 15 lb of pressure per my very, very old canning book.

I wanted to ask Angi, if when at sea level do I still process for 90 minutes?  The batches I processed last summer the fish seems over done.  I love the taste of home canned tuna.

I also can beef which makes a really quick dinner with mashed potatoes and a salad.

Angi, I’m excited to read your recommendations.  I own 3 pressure canners and use them for Tuna and beef.  This year will be my first with a garden.  I’m hoping to do more canning this summer. As a kid at home we canned peaches, pears, tomatoes but not many veggies.

Ever time I talk about pressure canning folks freak out, including my mother.  I have my Grandmother’s old pressure canner with the screws.  I’ve had the valve checked, it’s due once again.  I canned antipasto in November, mom was one pins and needles until the process was over.

I really like preparing my own canned goods.  Looking forward to new tips and tricks.    Thanks so much for sharing

Not sure where you are going in Montana, but as a born and raised Montana gal, you need to consider down.  When I was in elementary school I walked about 6 blocks to school.  School was never canceled due to subzero weather. Back then all we had was wool and I can tell you the wind blows right thru wool.  Even with thick cotton lining.   Look for canvas barn coats, and layer.

Boots and shoes - look into Eskimo mukluks, actually if you google the Alaska natives there are on line patterns for fur mukluks and the traditional winter coats they make and wear.  I just saw patterns at a quilt shop in Alaska when searching for some specific fabric.

You might be able to buy directly from some of the Alaska natives, google search.

So I have my M-I-L fur coat.  You can upcycle them into teddy bears for family members.  There is a self adhesive lining that you use when cutting out pattern pieces because most furs are pieced.  I have bought fur at thrift stores just for this purpose.

If your not comfortable with the project find a local teddy bear maker.  There was a strong crafting group nationally back in the 90s, they have clubs and conventions.  Many are collectors as well.

I have seen folks also make pillows from fur coats.
