Hi,
Ive been developing an idea (not mine 100%) that I think youd like. I collect rainwater too, and came across am awesome picture. Ill try my best to explain it, as there's 2 ways to go about it. The 1st way is a pvc (2") pipe between 2 barrels, that also has a bell curve using (2) Y's. Ball valves are used so water can either go right in the 2nd barrel OR can be delayed until the water reaches a certain height in the first barrel that it fills the entire bell top. When that happens, a siphon (back-siphon) is created and it will empty the first barrel completely like a toilet flush. No manual labor needed (or sucking on a hose and trying to beat the liquid)
The 2nd way is basically like the first in that the point is to "fill" the pipe so that it creates its own siphon. For this one I found a pic of (3/4" pvc) and it uses a combination of 45's and 90's to create a square-looking loopty-loop. For both tho you'll need that extra little "hump" to make sure the water collects in the loop and doesn't just run-off without filling it. I hope I explained that ok, if not hit me up via email
