I lost our 2 one year old Bantam Silkie Hens to "something" this past weekend. We are still setting up their outdoor run, so they were in a wire dog crate overnight up on our balcony. They had done this several times without incident. I went out to take care of them Monday morning and the only thing left inside the cage were their torsos, feathers and one egg. The door was still latched. Outside on the decking there were whole wings, heads, more chunks of feathers and blood everywhere. Besides being horrible, it was also strange that it seemed none of the meat was taken by the predator(s). We do have foxes, bobcats, bears, but mostly our visitors are ravens. They have seemed curious about the birds but we never thought of them as a threat. I'm wondering now if they are our culprits.
