Hi all!
My dad has experience as a conventional builder and I have only been to a straw bale class. Needless to say, he thinks we need many more things than our plans call for.
We are trying to keep a tight budget and I don't want to buy unnecessary things.
We have the ecofamily 1900 plan. There is a plan for gravel/drainage underneath the bales. We will be doing a 3 coat lime plaster for the finish, but my dad seems to think Tyvek house wrap would ensure no moisture in the bales....
I read about how the wrap paper can bond to the plaster finish and actually cause No drainage to happen (when stucco is on top of OSB/stick built homes).
Can someone please explain in a way that will appease my conventional builder father of why we can trust the process and rest assured we will not have rotting out bakes under our lime (as long as we have a low moisture content from the start!).
Thank you!!
