I created an account just to respond to this post. I hope the author finds my response. I am appalled to find a 100 acre clear cut with no responsibility by the logger to clean it up or regenerate the land. I don't think there is a state in the western US that does not require clean-up of slash and replanting within a period of time. There is absolutely no selling of land like this. Is this really legal in your state?
I am also concerned at those who recommend leaving the land to its own device or to plant random clover or grass. If you want this land to be as close to its original state as possible you will need to contact a naturalist in your area, someone who has studied the development of the forests and knows which plants were first, when which trees came in, how sun and shade affected growth, etc. The bare land will just allow the easiest growing invasive plant to take over and you definitely do not want that.
Would love to hear a follow up on your adventure.
